Since holiday parties are in full swing it's the perfect time to think about a signature cocktail for your festive affair. I have three criteria for a tasty party drink: it has to be delicious, lovely to look at, and easy to make. That's where sparkling wine comes in—whether it's Cremant, Cava, or Prosecco, bubbles are the perfect base for a celebration.
But since it's a party drink, we need to jazz it up a bit to get guests in the holiday spirit. Pomegranate juice, with its deep red hue, adds the perfect amount of color and just a touch of tart flavor that pairs well with the effervescent bubbles. A bit of ginger liqueur adds a hint of sweet and spicy, bringing depth to the cocktail. And of course, a garnish is necessary, a piece of candied ginger adds a bit of glitz to to the rim of the glass.
This drink can be made individually or you can combine the pomegranate juice and ginger liqueur ahead of time so you have one less thing to pour.
- 1 ounce pomegranate juice
- 1 ounce ginger liqueur such as Domaine de Canton
- 3 ounces sparkling wine
- Candied ginger, to garnish
Combine the pomegranate juice and ginger liqueur in a champagne flute. Pour sparkling wine over top. Garnish rim with a piece of candied ginger.
To make ahead of time: combine 8 ounces pomegranate juice with 8 ounces ginger liqueur. This will make enough for to be paired with 1 bottle of sparkling wine.
