With Thanksgiving just around the corner, chances are you're busy planning your menu. The biggest food holiday of the year brings with it a fair share of stress—sure, it's great to spend time with family eating delicious food, but the preparation always tends to catch me off guard. That's why, when I found this recipe for the Sage Brush from The Herbal Kitchen: Cooking with Fragrance and Flavor by Jerry Traunfeld, it sounded like the perfect cocktail to take a time out with.
The flavors of this drink—sage, grapefruit, lemon, and gin—balance bright and energetic with smooth and herbal. They're flavors that fit right in with this time of the year, perhaps even providing some inspiration for that yet-to-be-set Thanksgiving menu. And if you're not cooking, perhaps you may want to volunteer to make it for the host or hostess—they'll certainly appreciate it.
