The Outcider from Prime Meats Recipe
*
- Yield:Serves 6 people
The Outcider is a classic punch with a subtle twist. Served warm, the flavor reminds us of a more complex, more aromatic version of hot spiced cider. Tea adds a lovely herbal depth to a comforting, familiar drink.
Note: the recipe calls for boiled cider, which can be found at specialty food stores, or you can make your own by boiling a gallon of cider until it has reduced to 1 quart.
Ingredients
- 12 ounces bourbon (Buffalo Trace recommended)
- 6 ounces boiled cider
- 12 dashes orange bitters
- 12 dashes Fee Brothers whiskey barrel aged bitters
- 18 ounces strong rooibos tea
- 24 2-inch strips of orange zest
- 12 cinnamon sticks
Directions
-
1.
Heat the bourbon, boiled cider, bitters, tea, orange peels, and cinnamon sticks in a 4 quart pot until warmed through. Pour into a ceramic punch bowl or crock pot. Serve immediately.
