Cranberries—a staple on the Thanksgiving dinner table—are a perfect ingredient for cocktails this time of year. Their ruby red hue brightens up any cocktail party and the juice brings a little life to familiar cocktails.
The Negroni—a classic cocktail made with equal parts gin, Campari, and vermouth, then garnished with an orange peel—is a great starting point for cranberry. The herbal nature of gin and the hint of orange work really well with slightly tart flavor of cranberry juice. Many cranberry juices are actually blends of cranberry juice, apple, and grape juice, which reduces the tartness of the cranberries. If you want to use unsweetened 100% cranberry juice, you may need to adjust the drink's sweetness to taste.
In the end you'll have a delightfully bright drink that starts sweet, gets a little juicy thanks to the cranberry juice, and ends with the bitter notes of Campari.

- 1 ounce gin
- 1 ounce Campari
- 1 ounce dry vermouth
- 1 ounce cranberry juice
- 2-inch orange twist
Combine the gin, Campari, vermouth, and cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Strain into a cocktail glass. Gently fold the orange twist and squeeze over the cocktail to express oils. Garnish with twist and serve.
