This tasty pomegranate cocktail from the Food & Wine 2009 Cocktail Guide was created by Todd Thrasher of Restaurant Eve in Alexandria, VA as an ode to Jefferson's love of pomegranates.
The sweet, rich flavors of bourbon and Southern Comfort are paired with pomegranate juice and pomegranate molasses, which is a thick, tart and sweet reduction of pomegranate juice and sugar that brings a real depth to the cocktail. The result is a cocktail that is full of flavor—a little sweet, a little tart and totally delicious.

- 3/4 ounce Southern Comfort
- 3/4 ounce bourbon
- 3 ounces pomegranate juice
- 1/2 ounce pomegranate molasses
- 1/2 ounce lemon juice
Fill the cocktail shaker with ice, add all of the ingredients and shake for 10 seconds.
Strain into Collins glass filled with ice.
