This cocktail is sweet and fragrant but fun. We like it with White Zinfandel, but feel free to substitute a drier pink or white wine. If you don't have passion fruit syrup, substitute passion fruit juice plus simple syrup to taste.
It's adapted from Stuart Wilson's The Bartender's Guide to Cocktails and Mixed Drinks.
- 4 ounces White Zinfandel or white wine
- 1 ounce gin
- 1 ounce passion fruit syrup such as Trader Tiki's
- 1/4 ounce Cointreau
- 1 ounce lime
- 3 ounces ginger ale
- 2 thin lemon slices for garnish
Shake wine, gin, passion fruit syrup, Cointreau, and lime with ice in a cocktail shaker. Fill two rocks glasses with ice. Strain cocktail into both glasses, top up with ginger ale, garnish with lemon slice.
