Irish Brown Bread

Ingredients
- 4 cups Irish-style coarse ground wholemeal flour
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a baking sheet.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.

In a small bowl whisk together buttermilk and melted butter.

Make a well in the center of dry ingredients. Pour in buttermilk and melted butter. Mix until combined, though still lumpy.

Turn dough out onto floured surface. Kneed dough until it just comes together, about 2 minutes. Form dough into a 10 inch circular loaf. Score top of loaf with a large cross.

Bake for 40 minutes
