The Cartoon Kitchen: Spice Pound Cake

Spice Pound Cake
Ingredients
2 cups sifted flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
Salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon clove
1/4 teaspoon cardamom
1/2 pound (2 sticks) sweet butter
4 eggs
2 teaspoons ground coffee
1 teaspoon vanilla
Procedure
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, a pinch of salt, the cinnamon, clove, and cardamom.
2. Cream the butter with the dry ingredients; add the eggs, coffee and vanilla. Mix well and turn out into a greased loaf pan.
3. Bake for 50 minutes; let cool. Chocolate icing is nice, but not necessary.
