New Tasti D Logo Isn't Fooling Anyone

20080619-tastid.jpgTheir executives can come up with as many streamlined new logos as they want, but Tasti D-Lite's heyday is long over. Despite a brief popularity boost thanks to a few appearances in Sex and the City, the New York–based dessert company has been steadily losing ground to competitors like Pinkberry and our favorite fro-yo place, Red Mango. Getting desperate, Tasti D has even tried to retaliate by introducing a new green tea flavor. We appreciate the attempt—but anyone looking for a low-fat dessert that is actually tasty or delightful should probably stick with a company that serves real yogurt. [via Brand New]

Have you actually tried it or are you just postulating? I don't come to this site for food snobbery. I come for objective opinions.

I used to live on the stuff but grew embittered after I realized that I was eating so much of it I was pratically gaining weight on the substance. It no longer promotes itself as ultra-low cal like it used to, because it isn't.

it just doesn't taste very good. i never ate it after the first time or two that i tried it. on the other hand, pinkberry and red mango are full of flavor and addictive.

I rather like it, myself. Just not enough non-chocolate flavors.

I work in the New York Financial District/Wall St. area. Can someone tell me if there's a place that carries this product around here?

I never thought it was that bad. Tastes not so much like yogurt but like soft-serve ice cream. Which is why I avoid it; I like ice cream ice cream. I've been to a few of the newfangled froyo places now. I like them for the toppings. But for me a frozen dessert is a very occasional treat, so when I do get it, I go whole-hog for ice cream or frozen custard.

I don't think tasti d-lite tastes like anything

I went through a period in college where my roommates and I were eating it all the time. And then I realized after the initial "burst of flavor" it pretty much tasted like nothing. I like Red Mango, but Frogurt is my new fro-yo addition.

Erm, I don't believe that Pinkberry is necessarily "real yogurt": http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/23/dining/23yogurt.html?scp=3&sq=pinkberry&st=cse .
