Serious Eats is looking for an organized and creative digital producer to join our team in New York City. You will work directly with the Creative Services Director to develop and execute custom campaigns for our brand partners.


  • Develop campaign strategies in collaboration with editorial, visual, and product
  • Develop and manage campaign scope, milestones, and deliverables
  • Manage a team of internal and external resources on day-to-day tasks to ensure deadlines are met
  • Manage client and internal expectations to ensure all teams are aligned on delivery items and deadlines
  • Work with the Creative Services Director on presentations and marketing materials


  • 2-3 years as a digital producer managing medium- to large-scale projects (ad agency, PR agency, or production studio experience a plus)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask across multiple projects and prioritize deliverables
  • Working knowledge of project management software such as Asana, Basecamp, or Jira


Serious Eats is looking for an experienced designer to join our product team in New York City.


  • Prototyping and designing new interfaces (user-facing and internal)
  • Iterating and improving existing features and interfaces, based on metrics and testing
  • Refining rough UX prototypes into visually polished designs
  • Collaborating with editorial, commercial, developers, and stakeholders across the company to design custom interactives and new initiatives


  • 2 years full-time relevant professional experience
  • Expertise in typographic and visual design principles
  • Deep understanding of foundational design concepts across devices and platforms
  • Experience with design and placement of typical page and platform elements (titling, icons, color, dividers, columns, sidebars, ad units, content modules, etc.)
  • Familiarity with possibilities and limitations of HTML/CSS/JS
  • Rapid prototyping (paper, Sketch, HTML/CSS, etc.)
  • Fluency in Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Knowledge of principles of formal user research and testing
  • Excellent communication skills

Front-End Developer

Serious Eats is seeking an experienced web developer to join our nimble and growing product team. We favor generalists over specialists; ideal candidates will be motivated to constantly learn and consistently improve. This position is based in our New York office.


  • Translate prototypes and mockups to production-level code
  • Maintain and improve the existing Serious Eats website
  • Contribute to refinements in the development process


  • Advanced HTML and CSS/SCSS
  • JavaScript/jQuery experience
  • Enthusiastic collaborator and communicator
  • RWD and familiarity with the nuances of popular browsers and devices that comes with it
  • Git/Github experience
  • Some familiarity with the command line (OS X, Ubuntu)

Recipe Developer

Serious Eats is hiring an experienced recipe developer to focus on baking, sweets, desserts, pastry, and so on. This is a new position, and as such has plenty of room for the ideal candidate to define their own role. That said, this recipe developer will be expected to live up to the very high standards for methodical and rigorous testing, thoroughness, and intellectual focus that Serious Eats is known for. Live cooking demos will be part of the evaluation process for this position, among other tests. Compensation commensurate with experience and demonstrated ability. This position is based in our New York City office.


  • Conceive, develop, test, and perfect new recipes as well as improvements and/or variations on existing or traditional recipes
  • Collaborate with editorial to develop feature stories and recipes around original packages, regular features, and seasonal drives
  • Write detailed explanatory features around originally developed recipes as well as features focusing on explaining technique and pastry science
  • Top-edit and second-edit features and recipes from other editors and freelancers
  • Manage and assign freelance writers, editors, recipe developers, photographers, videographers, and any other appropriate out-of-house resources required
  • Work with in-house creative, technical, and commercial staff as needed for interdisciplinary projects and initiatives


  • Demonstrated cooking skills at an advanced level
  • Speed, mental agility, inexhaustible curiosity, obsessive work habits, ability to think and execute independently, healthy skepticism to challenge accepted cooking methods and wisdom, bulletproof ego covering a core of humility, impish sense of humor
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with baking, desserts, cookies, sweets, pastry, etc
  • 5 years professional experience in food and cooking
  • 3 years experience in recipe/food editorial
  • Proven ability to write and edit a variety of editorial work, from recipes to longform features
  • Creative stamina and intellectual rigor sufficient to maintain Serious Eats’ standards of quality over extended, methodical recipe testing regimen, including repetitive and simultaneous testing of ingredient and technique variations across the culinary spectrum
  • Bonus criteria: professional restaurant work, scientific or technical background, photography experience, on-camera ability, significant experience and ability in other food genres, international cuisine expertise
