At Serious Eats we’ve always been about producing the best original 100%-free food content on the web for our dedicated readers. When you click on one of our Amazon or other affiliate links to purchase recommended products, a small percentage of that purchase comes back to us, helping us continue to provide more of what you love about Serious Eats: informed opinions, rigorously tested recipes and techniques, and beautiful photos and videos. Account Questions

Why do I need to set up an account to post a comment?
Registration ensures that spam comments do not get through, which makes finding tasty food info all that much easier. It also helps gather community members’ discussions in individual profile pages so you can get to know your fellow serious eaters.

Why do you need my email address?
Your email address is required for account for verification. Don’t worry! We won’t share your personal information with anyone.

How do I change my username?
Currently we don’t support the ability to change your username.

How do I change my password?
If you are logged in, access your profile page. At the bottom of the page, you will see the form labeled “Password Change.” Proceed.

How do I change my account’s email address?
If you need to change the email address associated with your Serious Eats account, please contact support@seriouseats.com and we’ll change it right away.

How do I deactivate my account?
We’re sad that you would ask that! :( But if you must, please contact support@seriouseats.com and we’ll take care of it.

I just signed up, and I’m having trouble logging in.
Check your spam folder for the account verification email. Click on the link, and your account will be activated.
Still having problems? Please contact support@seriouseats.com.

I’m having trouble logging in. I’ve been able to log in before. But it’s not working now.
Oh noes! Your best bet is to delete the Serious Eats cookies in your browser. Then try to log back in. Here is some advice on deleting cookies.

Comments

My comment isn’t appearing!
Comments normally take a minute to appear after hitting the submit button, sometimes more. Patience, please.

How do I report an inappropriate comment?
Please email contact@seriouseats.com and let us know! Include the URL if possible.

What’s your comment policy?
Please check out the “Comments Terms of Use” section in our terms of use.

How can I get comment notification emails?
Every time you leave a comment on a post, you can receive an email notifying you of any new comments on that thread.

Comment notification is a profile level feature. By default this option is turned off.

To turn on comment notifications, do the following:

Follow the link in the top right login area and click on the “Account” link.

From the “Profile” page, scroll down to the “comment response notification” section and select “yes.”

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click “Save Changes.” Done! You can turn this feature on or off at any time.

How do I opt-out of comment notification emails?
Comment notification is a profile level feature. By default this option is turned off.

If you regularly comment on high comment count threads like our weekly Cook the Book giveaways, you may want to disable this feature or create a new email filter in order to avoid the high volume of comment notification emails. If you’d like to turn off comment notification for any reason, here’s how:

Follow the link in the top right login area and click on the “Account” link.

From the “Profile” page, scroll down to the “comment response notification” section and select “no.”

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click “Save Changes.” Done! You can turn this feature on or off at any time.

I won a contest or giveaway. Where’s my prize?
You can expect your prize within 6 to 8 weeks. If it’s been longer than that, please send an email to contact@seriouseats.com.

When and where do you publish the winners of the weekly contests?
We publish the winners’ names as the last comment of the contest post, and contact the winners by email.

Accessing Serious Eats

Do you have an RSS feed?
Yes, here’s a link to the Serious Eats RSS feed, which you can add to the feed reader of your choice.

Do you have email newsletters?
Totally! We currently offer two email newsletters: a daily digest of our recipes and a weekly summary highlighting a few of our favorites posts from the week. If you’re a registered Serious Eats member, you can sign up to receive the email newsletters from your profile page. Alternatively, anyone can sign up at the newsletter sign-up page.
