3 Great Cocktails From Brooklyn Bartender, Your New Drinks Bible

This cocktail, from Jay Zimmerman of ba'sik in Williamsburg, is featured in Brooklyn Bartender by Carey Jones. Made with bourbon, fresh lemon, and citrusy Montenegro Amaro, it's a complex whiskey sour, packed full of flavor thanks to a pour of pamplemousse, a rich grapefruit liqueur. I particularly like this drink with Eagle Rare single-barrel bourbon and Combier's pamplemousse.

Special equipment:
Cocktail shaker and strainer

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce (30ml) bourbon
  • 3/4 ounce (20ml) pamplemousse
  • 3/4 ounce (20ml) fresh lemon juice from 1 lemon
  • 3/4 ounce (20ml) Montenegro Amaro
  • Lemon twist, for garnish

Directions

  1. 1.

Add bourbon, pamplemousse, lemon juice, and amaro to a cocktail shaker. Fill 2/3 full with ice and shake until well chilled, about 15 seconds.

  2. 2.

Strain into a cocktail coupe, garnish with lemon twist, and serve immediately.
