Easy Summer Drink: Sparkling Suze Cocktail

A complex-tasting drink that's as easy as 1-2-3. [Photo: Elana Lepkowski]

Suze is a French aperitif with a delicately bitter gentian root flavor. Its mild sweetness and hints of citrus and wildflowers make it a wonderful partner for sparkling wine, especially with the addition of a little elderflower liqueur.

Special equipment:
mixing glass, strainer

Ingredients

  • 3/4 ounce Suze
  • 1 1/4 ounce St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • 4 ounces chilled Cava
  • Lemon twist, for garnish

Directions

  1. 1.

Add Suze and St-Germain to a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir until well chilled, about 15 seconds. Strain into a Champagne flute and top with Cava. Garnish with lemon twist.
