Snapshots From the First Semi-Annual Serious Eats Foodlympics

Here at Serious Eats, we love the Olympics. A lot. (Did you see the Russian police officers singing "Get Lucky" at the opening ceremony?!) So much so that we decided to dedicate last Friday to a day of competitive food-centric events designed to test our mettle and show off our athletic gustatory prowess.

Some were based off of existing Olympic events (curling with Cronuts*), while others were engineered specifically for the purposes of this competition (Oreo stackage). What does it take to become a true Foodlympian? A mix of speed (the Saltine challenge), endurance (grape-cheek stuffage), and skill (salting accuracy), plus the ability to represent your friends and countrymen with a smile.

Click through to see the Serious Eats staffers/Olympians give it their all!

*Actually Crumbnuts, the Crumbs Bakery Cronut knockoff, because we couldn't handle the line at Dominique Ansel Bakery for the real deal

But wait, there's more! Follow Serious Eats on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest!
