Look Who's Talkin': Comments, Quips, and Quotes From Talk

There's so much going on in Talk and the comments week to week that we almost can't keep up. If you're in the same boat, here's a small selection of topics and responses that have piqued our interest this week.

And as always, feel free to jump into the coversations! The more you talk, the more we learn.

Ideas for eggplant purée other than baba ghanoush?

Look Who's Talkin'

"Smear it on toasted bread with aged provolone or soppresatta and provolone. Or with chicken and swiss. Or in a wrap. or add some sour cream and spices and sautéed onions and dip into it. Or make some lettuce cups and add it, olives, and some roasted peppers.

Eat it with a spoon, a hard-boiled egg, a baguette, a glass of wine and someone you love." healthytouch101

First Time Making Bread, help!

"dbcurrie is a wonderful resource and a respected bread authority in these, here parts. I have had fun with the sour dough ideas she has provided. My personal problem with baking is that I don't like to measure accurately. With baking, however it is necessary for great results. Measuring by weight (if you have the proper scales) also will improve one's results. Good luck to you, my friend." bleu

Deep Dish Pizza recipe—where are you?

"A lot of people tend to use the terms "deep dish" and "pan pizza" interchangeably, but they are really two completely different styles. Pan pizza is a thick crust that is pretty much the same thickness from center to edge, whereas deep dish is made in a similar pan, but the dough is actually pretty thin, with only the edge being tall. The thickness through the middle comes from the thick layer of cheese and toppings, and the chunky sauce on top!" Tipsykit37

Have you Ever Been Just a Little Sneaky?

"I usually sneak a few slices of American cheese in with my aged cheddar sauce when I make mac and cheese and enjoy everyone praising the creamy texture. And I usually keep quiet about the borderline obscene amounts of butter and salt I add to things." Tipsykit37

Editor's note: Tipsykit's on a roll this week, and yes, we're guilty of this too!

Onions and digestive issues.

"This distress is probably due to an imbalance of bodily humors and probably caused by a small toad or gnome living in your stomach. What I suggest is a good bleeding followed by 4 intense sessions of bi-weekly leechings...and maybe a good shave.

Savory or sweet breakfast?

"Savory or sweet breakfast?

No question - both. Separate or together, doesn't matter. Try making your pancakes with a fried egg in the middle, and covered with syrup Yummy! Or, a cheese and sausage omelet with a cinnamon bun chaser. Hoochie mama - delicious!" Dan415

All Caramelled Out

"Red Velvet is the most overrated dessert thing ever." Burger365

Most Underrated Foods?

"Birch beer. I had some recently, and I loved it! Even better than root beer to me, and that's saying a lot!" lux_lisbon
