When Hambone gets thirsty, Hambone gets drippy. And when Hambone gets drippy, the streets of Harrisburg, PA, feel his wrath.
Bravetart and Kenji
Sweet potato hash and sticky buns
Breakfast is served! Kenji's sweet potato hash (stay tuned for a recipe!), and Bravetart's crazy-sticky sticky buns (these were a tester batch for the recipe in her upcoming book!).
I can has hash?
"This guy is crazy," thinks Hambone, as Kenji takes a running jump into Lake St. Catherine in Arkansas.
Barbecue from Blue Ox
What better way to follow up a taco breakfast with a barbecue lunch? This monster platter of smoked meats comes from Blue Ox in Austin.
Hambone as a chile
Sparky's in Hatch, New Mexico was unfortunately closed when Kenji rolled through, but that didn't stop Hambone from proclaiming his love of chiles. (Don't worry, he didn't burn his mouth!)
It's the height of Hatch chile season. Here a chile dealer strings up fresh chilies to be dried for next year.
Kenji made a quick pit-stop at Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix for his deservedly well-known Rosa, made with red onions, pistachios, rosemary, and Parmesan.
Kenji and the pups get their first feel of West Coast water on the beach in Malibu.
Nothing says California like an In-N-Out burger!
Chinese bakery tasting
Intern Ida has been gathering sweets from Chinese bakeries over the last two weeks in search of the best bakeries in Chinatown. Here's part of the spread from one day.
Chinese bakery tasting
Interns Meena, Ida, and Melissa dig into some Chinese bakery sweets.
Yet another tasting round
Ida may be regretting her decision to search for the best bakery in Chinatown. We ate more mediocre buns than we'd prefer.
Goldfish Puffs and macaroni and cheese
Leandra is a huge, huge, huge Goldfish fan, so when we got these new Goldfish products in the mail, she went into hyperactive excitement mode. The Puffs are pretty good, like fish-shaped Cheetos. We have yet to try the macaroni and cheese.
Leandra's Goldfish-induced excitement was quickly surpassed when she received a special package of General Mills' monster-themed cereals, way before Halloween.
A love that will last forever
One of Ida's final requests on her last day in the office (sniffle) was to get her photo taken with Mr. Bear. These guys were just made for each other.
