Maybe it's our relentless pursuit of culinary perfection, or maybe we're just goofballs who like to play with open fires—either way, we've grilled some pretty weird stuff here at Serious Eats.
Grilling columnist Joshua Bousel once had someone bring a bag of zeppoles past their prime to a barbecue, which he claims were delicious once they'd be revived by the healing powers of the grill. On the other hand, Chicago editor Nick Kindelsperger tried to smoke a massive pork butt on a Hibachi grill, an experiment he's vowed never to perform again. "It was always on the edge of tipping over," he says, "and I had to replace the charcoal every 30 minutes." Chief Creative Officer Kenji maintains that he's never personally grilled anything particularly strange, but he'll always remember the time Chichi brought some lamb testicles over to his place for a u-bring-it-we-grill-it party. ("They were deliciously creamy," for the record.) So with the weekend upon us, we want to know: what's the weirdest thing you've ever grilled?
