BUNS BUNS BUNS
800 buns (Martin's potato rolls, our favorite) stacked and ready to go before Kenji heads to Sweetlife Festival this weekend, where he'll be making sliders.
Beer o' clock!
Our buddy Sean Lily Wilson of Fullsteam Brewery in North Carolina stopped by the office to drop off a growler of his Summer Basil beer. Each batch is brewed with six pounds of NC-grown basil! Thanks Sean!
Kenji's broken tooth
Here's Kenji showing off his broken tooth from an old bike accident. ...Thanks, Kenji.
Ice cream time
A young office visitor goes to town on an ice cream sandwich.
Shopping for strawberries
Max made ice cream for a friend's wedding this weekend, which meant heading to the Chinatown markets and sniffing out the best strawberries, carton by carton.
All the strawberries!
20 pounds for 40 bucks. Not bad!
How to boost office morale: with the pork fat-soaked magic of DiPalo's porchetta! (Also works for halting office productivity.)
We also snacked on DiPalo's fresh mozzarella and a chunk of parmesan. Yup, good day in the office.
Kenji took Thursday morning off to go on a fishing trip in the Long Island Sound with chef Harold Dieterle. They came back to the office that afternoon with a 17-pound striped bass. Aw yeah.
Let the fish breakdown begin
Harold slices while Kenji documents.
Niki and Harold talking about fish heads, maybe
Fish feasting time
Using a quarter of the whole fish, Harold and Kenji made striped bass sashimi, pan roasted striped bass with its liver, and striped bass puttanesca. You'll read more about them soon in an upcoming post.
Happy times with Yuba
Niki and Jamie strike a pose while Yuba...does not.
