Weekend Cook and Tell Round Up: A Sandwich a Day
Our last challenge for Weekend Cook and Tell was for all of you to share your favorite sandwiched delights. We called this A Sandwich a Day. We saw variations of breakfast hash, fresh avocado and tomato, and even a sweet sandwich utilizing Nutella. It was a good week. It's hard to capture our love for sandwiches, but we think you represented it perfectly with your offerings. Here they are in short order.
"Put an egg on it" seems to be a phrase that comes up regularly at Serious Eats (for good reason). Cannella Vitadid just that and put an egg on this Caprese Breakfast Tartine. Fresh basil, tomatoes, and lots of melty mozzarella, and finished with a fried egg and herbed butter. C'est parfait!
missmochi loves her canned meat! You can try out her Breakfast Grilled Cheese with Hash for one version. Her favorite childhood version (we shall expect a follow-up) was toasted sourdough, cheddar, Braunschweiger, mustard, and sliced cornichons. We so love missmochi's appreciation of all things canned.
KarmaFreeCooking helps us remember that summer will come again with her Avocado, Tomato, and Fresh Mozzarella sandwich. Bright, crisp, and juicy. We also hope to hear back from KarmaFreeCooking about her other mentioned sandwich. Perhaps, a follow-up round up is in order?
If you're looking for a hearty Irish sandwich, CatScan recommends a 'traditional' Irish breakfast roll. "Sausage, back bacon, black pudding, white pudding (a sausage with oats in it), fried egg, ketchup, hash browns if you can get them, all in a crunchy baguette."
lemonfair is with us on the sandwich loving. BLT's, Reuben's, or even leaf lettuce sandwiches top the list. lemonfair's favorite sandwich came quite by accident, a Toasted Cheese Sandwich on Raisin Bread. We're willing to try it!
Pretzel buns. Need we say more? SeattleDee blogs her recipe for the buns and demonstrates delicious ways to use them. Chorizo? Yes, please. Giant rolls with crunchy, salty bits are perfect to pair with any sandwich innards.
