If you've ever wondered if Top Chef alums secretly hang out together eating each other's food and generally being cooler than you, you're probably right. But starting this past Monday at Mike Isabella's Graffiato, you can get in on the fun with DC's celebrity chefs at monthly Industry Takeover Nights. The first Monday of each month beginning at 10 p.m., Isabella will turn his kitchen over to guest chefs and mixologists for complimentary small plates and drink specials. First up was Bryan Voltaggio's' Range team.
Voltaggio and Range bar manager, Owen Thomson, delivered a sample of what they have going on at Range (our first look here). The spread began with a charcuterie, then a smattering of sushi, pasta, and baked dishes, and finally treats from Range's candy bar. It was a Voltaggio crash course.
Expect these nights to be crowded, boisterous affairs. In attendance were the likes of Scott Drewno of The Source and Spike Mendelsohn of Good Stuff Eatery, and both will be participating in the second Takeover Night on February 4. Drewno will be cooking with help from Toki Underground's Erik Bruner-Yang, while Mendelsohn will be whipping up his signature shakes. The rest of the lineup reads like a who's who of DC food and drink: next up after Drewno and co. is Top Chef alum Jennifer Carroll with guest mixologist Derek Brown of The Passenger and The Columbia Room.
