Give the gift of soft and squishy this holiday season with a food-themed plush toy. Everyone likes soft and squishy! Everyone. Check out some of my favorite plushes below and let me know if you have any to add.
My First Bacon
It's a huggable strip of bacon that says, "I'm bacon." GUYS, IT TALKS! Surely you know someone who'd want this.
Musical Nyan Cat
Everyone's favorite Pop Tart-bodied cat flying through space while pootin' out a rainbow can now be yours in plush form. Comes in rainbow and pinksplosion.
Reversible Hello Kitty Burger
On one side, it's Hello Kitty holding a burger. Turn it inside out and it's...a burger with Hello Kitty's face! What sorcery is this. Sanrio, $28
OniMiki, the Fleece Onigiri
If you're thinking, "That...doesn't look anything like tonkatsu," you're right. I think San-X took some creative liberties with this character. But hey, they say it's a piece of fried pork, so I'm going with that. If that's not believable, then just look at it as an adorable brown blob who could use a friend.
Tonkatsu is part of San-X's Sumikko Gurashi line, which NBC Piece translates as meaning creatures who love being in corners. Tonkatsu is described as "the last piece of fried pork cutlet that consists of 1% meat and 99% fat. He is always left behind due to his fat content." Someone give this guy a corner. Kawaii Gifts, $19.99
Mr Toast and Friends
The World of Mr Toast comes to life in soft 3D form with plushes of Mr Toast and his friends Joe the Egg, Clem Lemon, and Shaky Bacon. Look at their little nubbins. They want to huuuug. Mr Toast Store, $7 each or $25 for all four
Felt Sandwich Set
Kids can practice their sandwich-making skills over and over and over again with this 33-piece felt sandwich set. (If you're more into Mexican, there's also a taco and burrito set.)
This South Korea-based company has loads to choose from: happy mug of beer, happy slice of watermelon, happy loaf of bread, happy grain of rice (my personal fave), and more. The downside is that the whole website is in Korean. For a website in English, YesAsia.com also sells a selection of Cotton Food products.
Canned Unicorn Meat
"Tastes like rotisserie chicken but with a hint of marshmallow sweetness." Just as I suspected. ThinkGeek, $9.99
This is the happiest, softest, squishiest cupcake you will ever find. Just don't eat cupcakes in front of it. It won't like that. And it knows where you sleep. Squishable, $39
If you ever saw a melting popsicle or ice cream cone and thought, "Oh no, I want to hug it! If only it weren't all melty and sticky and really not suitable for hugging," then these Evil Icecream plushes are for you. Evil Icecream, $15
For a fried egg you can hug, get Eggbert Sunnyside from Nom Nom Friends (other friends include Hamlet, Mo, the Ironically Vegan Hipster Bacon, and Wendy Watermelon). Nom Nom Friends donates a portion of their profits to the World Food Program. Nom Nom Friends, $30
