SlideshowAirport Food That's Actually Good
The holiday season means family, and family means airports and airports mean overpriced, depressingly mediocre food options. Airport dining can be pretty bleak. Or at least, it was much bleaker years ago. Thankfully, airport food options have improved quite a bit over the last decade with new chef-designed concepts and local brands popping up.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO), for example, offers Acme bread, Cowgirl Creamery, and more Bay Area favorites; these local products now make up 85 percent of SFO's food offerings. Over at O'Hare airport, the Mexican sandwiches from Rick Bayless's concept Tortas Frontera are not just good by airport standards, they're good by sandwich standards, period. We wish every airport could make us a chorizo and egg breakfast torta before an early morning flight.
Since many of us will be boarding flights in the coming days and weeks, we wanted to share some decent airport bites we've had recently. How about you? Do you have a favorite airport snack? Or do you play it safe and pack your own PB&J?
