Meander's Kitchen is dirty and greasy. You'll leave it smelling like you took a bath in four-day-old fryer grease, and you will still look back fondly on the experience. Sweet relief from the gritty look and sour smell can be found in the homemade ketchup for your hash browns and the marionberry jam (also homemade) slathered on your sandwich.
The Full Monte is Meander's take on the Monte Cristo, and it will form a food-baby in your belly as your mind tries to sort out what sort of rabbit hole you've gone down. The three-layered attack includes ham, turkey, Swiss, and cheddar between bread slices before getting dunked in bourbon vanilla French toast batter and getting griddled.
Meander's is a completely classic diner, save for the scratch-made condiments. Food flies off the flat-top at a speed that makes you wonder if there's an Olympics for short order cooks, and oil is used with abandon. Despite being a young restaurant, it hails from an era when waitresses called you 'hon', and nobody cared how many calories were in that Monte Cristo. To fully enjoy the experience, you just have to embrace it: put your cell phone down (as the menu instructs), strike up a conversation with your neighbor, and throw health to the wind by indulging in The Full Monte.
