Anyone who regularly reads this column knows that I'm a fan of preparing as much as I can get away with before my guests arrive in the morning. Which means that French toast rarely graces my brunch table, until now. This sweet, bacon-filled baked French toast makes it easy to prep the day before and still offer a fantastic French toast.

You can use whatever bread you like, but I prefer whole wheat for this dish for its nuttiness. I've also had great luck with a sweet bread, like brioche or and egg-enriched loaves.
