A Sandwich a Day: The Mac 'N Cheese Grilled Cheese at Tom + Chee in Cincinnati
In this great country of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year--so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around the country. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

Tom+Chee started out as a booth on Fountain Square, selling grilled cheese sandwiches from a space next to Eli's—you may remember the name from another one of our featured sandwiches in Cincinnati—to hungry office workers on their lunch break.
They've come a long way since then, with two brick and mortar locations downtown, one in Northern Kentucky, and another recently opening in Louisville. And while Kenji has already explained the wonder that is their grilled cheese donut, I usually skip that decadent sandwich in favor of this one: the grilled Mac 'N Cheese with cheddar and bacon.
Creamy macaroni and cheese, savory bacon, and gooey cheddar is an amazing combo, even when not in a sandwich, and the generously buttered and grilled white bread adds a satisfying crunch. It's a sizeable meal; I usually eat half and save half for later. It's also a great value at $6.50, though I would save some room in your lunch budget for a soda, as this sandwich tends toward the salty side.
