Weekend Cook and Tell Round Up: Summer Seasonality
Our last challenge for Weekend Cook and Tell was for all of you to share your favorite in-season summer dishes. We called this Summer Seasonality. Your enthusiasm for summer delights was catching. We suppose eating these dishes with our eyes will ease the heat of the summer burn. Here's a peek at some of your most eye-catching dishes.
Katerina has been enjoying stone fruits and berries. She whipped up a Quick Peach and Blueberry Cobbler For Two , which she kindly shared with her husband. (We might have shared it with Hambone. Who can say no to those eyes?)
ChefDave deems freshly picked green Cubanelle peppers a summertime staple in his home. Once picked, those bad boys get stuffed, tossed on the grill, and then rapidly consumed. Check them out: Stuffed and Grilled Cubanelle Peppers.
This seems like the perfect summer recipe. It involves fragrant, fresh ingredients - and no cooking when it's hot outside! Raw Tomato and Basil Sauce from user meatballs&milkshakes. We can feel the tomatoes bursting in our mouths now.
Sometimes, summer bounty and its possibilities seem too good to be true.somaR posted a recipe that was perfectly lickable: Blackberry Ice Cream with Amaretto. Blossoming in somaR's backyard, were these Zucchini flowers just waiting to become Chickpea and Poppy Seed Batter Fried Squash Blossom.
ecca31 is really allowing veggies to be show their stuff in Asian stir fried noodle dishes. "It seems to allow me to use what the CSA is sending most effectively letting the veggies shine but letting me play with flavors.." We say, way to go. Noodles + CSA Veggies = Win!
Finally we have claireOOTO whose combination of vegetarian eating with CSA goods made for plentiful combinations of good eats. She took a beloved empanada and put her on twist on it to create Chard and French Lentil Empanadas with Caramelized Onions.
