I didn't move to California just for the produce, but the fruits and vegetables here are doing a pretty good job of convincing me that I made the right move.
Juicy eat-over-the-sink peaches are abundant at Ferry Plaza's big Saturday market, plus apricots, pluots, and other stone fruits. The strawberries are red all the way through, and there's still some rhubarb to be had if you're making pies. Special finds this week included green almonds (what do you do with those?) and unusual mushrooms, artichokes, corn, and baby squash with the blossoms attached.
