When you combine Colman Andrews, Melissa Hamilton and Christopher Hirsheimer, good things are bound to happen. The founder of Saveur magazine and the folks behind the cookbook series, Canal House Cooking have teamed up and put together an absolutely gorgeous new cookbook, The Country Cooking of Italy.

This lovely volume is filled with regional recipes from up and down the boot, Andrews' reflections on his Italian culinary adventures, and the sort of breathtakingly beautiful photos that we've become so enamored with from Hamilton and Hirsheimer.

Andrews knows that Italian cooking does not rely on complicated technique or hand to find ingredients, it's really all about sourcing the best and preparing it simply with a deft hand. And the recipes within The Country Cooking of Italy truly do reflect this uniquely Italian style of cooking and eating.

This week we'll be traveling with Andrews, Hamilton, and Hirsheimer, eating out way through The Country Cooking of Italy. We'll begin the meal with a leisurely apertivo snack, Frico, move on to a springy antipasti, Favas with Pecorino, and move onto a pasta course of Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe.
