Pizza; Fried Chicken; Pie
Pizza; Fried Chicken; Pie
I hate these kind of questions, but alright. It could be a slice of pizza from Pizza Bianco, and if I had to pick a single pizza there, it might be The Rosa: red onion, Parmigiano-Reggiano, rosemary, and Arizona pistachios.. Or, I might go for a piece of fried chicken from Gus's Fried Chicken. And it should be followed by a slice of pie from Hoosier Mama. She makes a fresh raspberry pie that was just crazy. Ed Levine
Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin Pie
I would say burrata, which is pretty heavenly stuff, but I think an actual last bite should be sweet, so I'm going with my mother's pumpkin pie. It's one of those dark, spicy versions, and it's pretty much perfect. I once blogged about the recipe here. Maggie Hoffman

Mapo Dofu
Mapo Dofu
Easy one. Mapo dofu. It's always in the top tier of my favorite dishes, and depending on the time of year, it's in the number one spot. I take it if I'm about to make the long, dark, cold trek into the great nothingness, I'd want something warm, tingly, spicy, and comforting to ease my soul. (Recipe here.) J. Kenji Lopez Alt
Fresh Mozzarella
Fresh Mozzarella
Give me cheese and I'm a happy lady, but there's a special place in my heart for fresh mozzarella. If there's a ball of it nearby, get out of my way. Slice off a bite... and then another... The first few bites are best, too, since you get a higher ratio of that salty skin enrobing the luscious, delicate mozz-nucleus. Just a little knife-pressure releases plenty of milky white whey.

Our office happens to be located directly across the street from DiPalo Selects, one of the finest mozzarella-makers this side of Italy. They make it fresh from curds several times a day, lightly salt it, wrap it up, and sell it directly from the counter. Also in the neighborhood, Torrisi makes their own mozzarella, drizzling it with plenty of good olive oil and sea salt (see photo; yes) and you have to eat it with their ridiculously delicious garlic bread. Mint Chip Ice Cream
Mint Chip Ice Cream
Blame it on the heat, but I'd have to say a scoop of awesome mint chip ice cream. Nothing beats real fresh mint leaves. Max Falkowitz

Chocolate Chip Cookie (Maybe)
Chocolate Chip Cookie (Maybe)
If I could only choose one, I might go with a really good chocolate chip cookie (or five cookies), fresh out of the oven. ...Or really good fried rice. ...Or a hot fudge sundae. Robyn Lee

Buttery Pastry
Buttery Pastry
Rich, buttery pastry is among my very favorite of life's pleasures, and the kouign-amman at Dominique Ansel in Manhattan is a near-perfect representation of the form: a hyper-flaky pastry with a soft, buttery core—if they weren't $5 for a relatively delicate pastry I'd buy them every day, but for a last bite? I'd buy a bagful. Carey Jones

Wilber's Barbecue
Wilber's Barbecue
I'm not sure if I get this all into one bite, but for a last meal it would have to be Wilber's barbecue and slaw, hush puppies, sweet tea. If there's a pizza cognition theory, there must also be barbecue cognition theory, and in my heart and stomach Wilber's is the definition of barbecue. Alaina Browne

Mole Negro
Mole Negro
I don't have that one dish that I love above and beyond everything else. So whenever I answer a question like this, I have to admit that note that my last bite changes about as often as the seasons do. Currently, I'm obsessing about mole negro, the really black mole from Oaxaca. Of course, I'd need some freshly made corn tortillas with that, otherwise I'd start licking the plate. Mom's Homemade Blueberry Pie
Mom's Homemade Blueberry Pie
My last bite would be my mom's homemade blueberry pie served warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. If possible, it'd be eaten in august on cape cod. Blueberry pie just tastes better there. Maybe it's that lingering salt on your lips and in the air. Carrie Vasios
