Come and Get It is billed as a pop-up, but not one of those one night only operations—they'll be in their space on Spadina until the showroom for (what else?) a new condo building takes over. They've got an interesting concept: there are four basic items on the menu (chipotle beef short rib, Hawaiian pork belly, herbed green beans, and a chicken Caesar) that you can get in either sandwich, salad, or poutine form. All sandwiches are $8, and almost equally tempting, but the Granny Smith's Chicken Caesar sandwich won out.

Juicy pulled chicken is topped with creamy garlic confit dressing, romaine lettuce, Grana Padano cheese, and two genius twists: a disc of crisped chicken skin (standing in for the bacon bits), and thinly julienned Granny Smith apples that co-mingle with the meat, bringing a touch of sweetness. The milk bun is a great bread selection, providing a bit of chewiness and a good bread-to-fillings ratio. I'm a big Caesar aficionado and this is the best sandwich application I've tasted to date.

The salad version of the Granny Smith Chicken Caesar has all of the same components (minus the bun) and the poutine has cheddar and mozzarella curds, pulled chicken, and bits of crispy skin topped with beef gravy.

With no clear closing date, it's uncertain how long Come and Get It will last, so go and get it while you can.
