Even during their soft opening weeks, Swift's Attic was filled with eager diners. Now officially open, they recently started weekday lunch service (and we've already shown you the cocktails over on Serious Drinks!). The spacious restaurant, tucked away on the second floor above Elephant Room jazz lounge, feels a little like a secretive refuge. Wide windows facing Congress Avenue and several skylights allow some sunlight in while eclectic chandeliers provide dim lighting.
C.K. Chin (Kenichi, Paggi House) and Stuart Thomajan initially wanted to create a bar with food but after bringing executive chef Mat Clouser (Uchi, Jeffrey's), the concept quickly grew into "bar and food." From grilled quail with Southern hot water grits, to homemade Korean kimchi, Peruvian scallop tiradito, Japanese chicken tsukune, and even Canadian tater tots poutine, the menu is wildly diverse, but somehow it all works together.
Just right of the stairs, the room expands into a sleek dining room where the eclectic decor continues: a circular booth with gold upholstery and an oversized birdcage chandelier. There's a long, bright green dining table running along the center of the room and plush leather booths lining the wall.
And don't overlook the bar, a tall wooden communal table with a vintage mural on the original 100-year-old brick wall (uncovered when the owners ripped down the drywall!).
The Swift's Attic team wants people to feel at home here, hence the easily sharable dishes, sizable cocktail and wine list, and late-night food menu.
