The Vietnamese sandwich is to Seattle what the dirty water hot dog is to New York; or the street taco is to Los Angeles. It's a quick cheap meal, but often a crapshoot on quality depending on where you go.
You won't have to worry at Seattle Roll Bakery where you'll find some of the best bánh mì in the city. Their "special" has three different kinds of pork product (Vietnamese ham, white ham, roast pork), a healthy splash of mayonnaise, plenty of pickled vegetables, enough jalapeños to wake up a few napping taste buds, and a rare find of top-notch bread. Most Seattle bánh mì shops receive bread orders early in the morning and serve the same batch all day. But Seattle Roll Bakery actually bakes that bread for other shops, so they're serving fresh bread all day.
