The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook's Oysters Rockefeller

One of the more memorable food related Mad Men moments surely has to be an unfortunate incident involving Roger Sterling, a broken elevator and too many oysters. And we'd like to assume that this little setback didn't keep Roger from enjoying plenty more of his favorite bivalves.
Judy Gelman and Peter Zheutlin, authors of The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook, adapted this recipe for Oysters Rockefeller from a 1977 edition of The Grand Central Oyster Bar and Restaurant Seafood Cookbook. Over the years the Rockefeller recipe used at the storied Oyster Bar has changed but this one is that would be the closest to the ones that Don and Roger enjoyed.
These American classic oysters are topped with wilted spinach, breadcrumbs, shallots, and plenty of butter. But it's the glug of anise-y Pernod that gives these broiled oysters such an intriguing ending.
