There's nothing like rolling up to a contemporary urban lifestyle strip mall to get your sandwich. But setting aside, vaunted JCT Kitchen should be a destination for Atlanta's Westside lunchers. Their "Georgia bistro" take on the Wood Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($9) manages to be heavy-duty and refreshing both—there's nothing a little lemony arugula can't do to cut the deck smoky bacon deals you.
It's a tall, but smushable little number—healthily plump ciabatta full of a whole lot going on (pickles, super-sharp pimento, etc.) that can get a little lost in the full translation. Overall notes of smoke (even the bacon has been kissed by bits of char) pervade, but if you get the perfect bite...well that's just the bacon, cheese, bright green, pickly chicken Southern dream, isn't it? They didn't even have to deep-fry it.
