Unlike many other iconic American foods, the best regional dogs are practically impossible to replicate anywhere else. Sometimes it's the incredible old-fashioned wieners made by a local meat packer, or a secret chili recipe brought over from Greece sewn into somebody's jacket liner that makes the dogs unlike anything else in the country.
Pair that dog with an exotic regional soft drink and you're really taking it to the next level.
Whether it's a marketing gimmick, century old tradition, or just an insanely unique flavor combination that seems to work well with the hot dog, next time you're in hot dog territory, wash down your dog with a can of Grapico, Moxie, a "Boston Cooler" or maybe even an ice cold mug of delicious fresh buttermilk.
