I was set on making cinnamon rolls when I changed my mind. Don't get me wrong, I love cinnamon rolls but was craving something nutty. Crunchy peanut butter sounded like the perfect thing.
A little extra sweetness comes from the brown sugar, but these aren't tooth-achingly sweet, which makes them a little more like breakfast than dessert.
If you're a fan of sweet breakfast rolls, you can drizzle these with a glaze made from powdered sugar and water. To make the glaze: just start with a cup of powdered sugar and add water, a teaspoon at a time, until you reach the consistency you're looking for.
When making a glaze, consider adding a little extra flavor like vanilla or coffee. Some chocolate shaved on top would make a nice accent, or mix the chocolate into your glaze if you're a fan of the peanut butter and chocolate combination. Or, warm some of your favorite jelly and drizzle on top.
For me, these these were perfect plain.
