Slideshow: This Week at Serious Eats World Headquarters

Dry ice
Dry ice
When there's dry ice in the office, we can't not play with it. Editors Carey and Erin show off their cheekbones while blowing away carbon dioxide.

22 pints of Jeni's ice cream!!! Yes, it was a very, very good day. More on the tasting here.

Ah, that's better. ALL SPOONS IN!
Happy birthday, Christine!
Happy birthday, Christine!
SE web developer Christine's birthday conveniently landed on the same day as our ice cream tasting. But ice cream does not make for a good candle holder, so we upped her sugar intake with a slice of chocolate cake from Dominique Ansel Bakery.
Leaning Towers of Pizza Books
Leaning Towers of Pizza Books
If you're looking for a copy of SE overlord Ed's pizza book, Pizza: A Slice of Heaven, we've got you covered.
Orange juice tasters
Orange juice tasters
Editor Maggie along with interns Anna, Lauren, and Rob, taste more orange juice than they ever have before.
Pie day
Pie day
Pie columnist Lauren Weizenthal bestowed us with the wonderful gift of oatmeal pie, a recreation of the one from Four and Twenty Blackbirds we ate on Erin's birthday. Here Erin, Carey, and Lauren taste the two pies side-by-side. They are really happy to be eating these pies, this much is clear.
PIE, ATTACK
PIE, ATTACK
Yeah, Lauren's pie didn't last long.
Happy Birthday, Ed!
Happy Birthday, Ed!
Since he provided his own chocolate cake from his birthday lunch at Del Posto, we decided to make him birthday cocktails, and instead of candles, umbrellas! A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Serious Eats overlord Ed! (There's Aperol, rum, King's Ginger, and Jeni's cherry lambic sorbet in that cocktail. Sweet and umbrella worthy, just the way Ed likes it.)
Post-surgery Hambone
Post-surgery Hambone
1) Hambone had to go through a bit of surgery this weekend. He was complaining about how droopy his eyes looked, so Kenji decided to give him a facelift as an early Valentine's day gift.

2) Just kidding. Truth is, the excess skin on his eyelids was causing him eye problems. He's out of a successful surgery and should be back to his normal self soon, brighter-eyed than ever.

3) Jamón in a cón.

Ed fed Hambone some Fritos while temporary-vegan Kenji was making a vegan Frito pie.
