A Sandwich a Day: Teacher's Pet at Lunch Geek in San Francisco
In this great country of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around the country. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

Lunch Geek is a sandwich shop within a sandwich shop (the other one is Cafico) with more interesting and inventive offerings. We went for the Teacher's Pet ($7.95), a promising-sounding combination of oven-roasted turkey, avocado, Swiss cheese, housemade aioli, mayo, mixed greens, and tomatoes.
Much of the sandwich was excellent—the Dutch Crunch bread, in particular, was well-crisped on the outside and chewy within, covered with what tasted like a swath of garlic butter. The avocado, too, was generously cut and perfectly buttery, though it could have been a bit more evenly distributed.
The sandwich's only real downfall was the turkey itself; while it was nicely salty, it was dry. Some more sauce would have helped (we had very little of the aioli, and no evident mayonnaise), or even a more present cheese. Still, tasty Dutch Crunch and ripe avocado is never anything to complain about.
