For last week's Weekend Cook and Tell we challenged all of you to get back to your roots by sharing your best root veggie recipes. By the looks of the responses, it appears all of you Cook and Tellers have some pretty well-stocked root cellars. Here's a peek at our favorite dishes.

The Primlani Kitchen asked what's not to love about beets and after checking out this ode to all things beety, we're going to have to say everything. That Southern Indian Beet Sambar looks like a must-try.

simmer down's hunter dad was the inspiration for this wonderfully wintry Venison Root Vegetable Stew, a comforting combination of venison, carrots, potatoes, and parsnips.

Being of Puerto Rican descent not to mention the daughter of a potato farmer KarmaFreeCooking loves her root veggies, namely potatoes, yautías, malangas, yucas, and batatas. Check out her recipe for Pastelón, a baked casserole of broccoli, potatoes, corn, and yautia

Katerina added a healthy dose of sweet potatoes to her Kale, Chickpea, and Chorizo Stew upping the good-for-you factor as well as a touch of sweetness that played nicely off the chorizo.

SeattleDee's been getting the roots in in the form of Borscht with beets, carrots, potatoes, and the unexpected addition of cranberries.

mangotomato got back to her beet loving Russian roots for this week's Cook and Tell with a Beet Dip blended with pomegranate concentrate and Moroccan dulcet mustard served with Spiced Flatbread.

lemonfair's favorite new root recipe is a Sweet Potato Black Bean Chili, a recipe that taught her a great trick to rid your hands of pesky chile oil—wash your hands with olive oil then wash with soap to take away the spicy chile burn.
