Weekend Cook and Tell Round Up: Get Back to Your Roots
For last week's Weekend Cook and Tell we challenged all of you to get back to your roots by sharing your best root veggie recipes. By the looks of the responses, it appears all of you Cook and Tellers have some pretty well-stocked root cellars. Here's a peek at our favorite dishes.
The Primlani Kitchen asked what's not to love about beets and after checking out this ode to all things beety, we're going to have to say everything. That Southern Indian Beet Sambar looks like a must-try.
Being of Puerto Rican descent not to mention the daughter of a potato farmer KarmaFreeCooking loves her root veggies, namely potatoes, yautías, malangas, yucas, and batatas. Check out her recipe for Pastelón, a baked casserole of broccoli, potatoes, corn, and yautia
lemonfair's favorite new root recipe is a Sweet Potato Black Bean Chili, a recipe that taught her a great trick to rid your hands of pesky chile oil—wash your hands with olive oil then wash with soap to take away the spicy chile burn.
We'd like to extend a big thank you to everyone who shared their rootiest recipes for this week's Weekend Cook and Tell challenge. Be sure to head over to Talk and read about next week's challenge: Waste Not, Want Not.
