Happy birthday to editor Erin Zimmer! We celebrated her birthday today with a Black Bottom Oatmeal Pie from Four and Twenty Blackbirds, one of our favorite pie shops in the city. A pie with oats in it was a natural choice for Erin; she's our resident oat fanatic, so much so that by coincidence her boyfriend bought her the same pie last night. Can Erin handle this much oatmeal pie?

Kenji's currently on a taco/food tour of Detroit, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Lexington. Here the owners of Fresh Street (@freshstreet) in Columbus, Ohio, made him wear a wooden boat for a hat after serving him some awesome hybrid Japanese/Korean/American bulgogi cheesesteak crepes and Japanese sausage-flavored takoyaki (the small spherical Japanese pancakes usually filled with octopus).
