Last weekend marked the first annual Los Angeles Food & Wine (yes, that's the full name), an occasion where, according to the posters that popped up around town "Celebrity Meets Celebrity Chef."
While there were a few odd celebrities of the non-culinary persuasion among the throngs who flocked to festival events (Bob Guiney, the former Bachelor; Randy Jackson on DJ duty), celebrity chefs, a mix of locals and far-flung talent, were far better represented with events like Tom Colicchio's Santa Monica clambake in Santa Monica or Sang Yoon and Chris Cosentino's joint effort at a four course snout to tail extravaganza.
Many of said stars of the kitchen made an appearance at the Lexus Grand Tasting, a two-day affair at L.A. Live downtown, which paired 30 chefs each day with some 200 wineries. The events were three hours each, and as with any such tasting tour, it was a race with the clock and the stomach to make it around the room, gobbling up as much pork jowl and Pinot before time was up or extreme satiety set in.
Here's a look at some of our favorite bites from Saturday's Grand Tasting (and stay tuned for our sweet selections from pastry chef Sherry Yard's late night confectionery celebration, called simply (and aptly) Decadence.)
