For last week's Weekend Cook and Tell we opted to leave the cooking part out and stay cool with a challenge all about refreshing summer beverages of the carbonated sort. We asked all of you to belly up to the Soda Fountain and share your best recipes for homemade pop. Here's a peak at our fizziest favorites.

KarmaFreeCooking serves plenty of sparkling refreshers in her native Puerto Rico. Her tropical hits include a Fizzy Drink of passion fruit, guava, brown sugar syrup, and ginger ale and a Citrus Punch with lime Perrier, sparking cider, passion fruit, and pineapple.

For a subtle, faintly sweet, and really refreshing summer cooler Lili13 likes to pour club soda over four or five paper thin slices of cucumber. For the best cucumber flavor, homegrown or farmers' market cukes do much better than the waxy supermarket specimens.

ElsaMac is a big fan of Sweet and Spicy Homemade Ginger Ale spiced with chile, lime, cloves, and lime, carbonated by fermenting with instant yeast.

NWcajun's homemade soda tale involved a Lord of the Rings themed sleepover party complete with a keg of homemade root beer and beer steins for all of the 12-year-old guests. According to NWcajun there was something absolutely hilarious about watching those little guys gather around the keg!

dbcurrie's homemade Rhubarb Butter is doing double duty as a spread and soda syrup with a sweet-tart flavor reminiscent of pink lemonade.

Thanks to everyone who shared their sparkly refreshers for this week's Weekend Cook and Tell challenge. Be sure to head over to Talk and read about next week's challenge: Dinner Express.
