A Sea of Sour Cherries
This season everyone seemed to be asking me where to find sour cherries. These were at the Cook's Orchard Farm stand. I love them in Persian saffron rice with chicken and sour cherries.
Many Flavors and Ages of Goat Cheese
Westfield Farm from Hubbardston, MA, had tasting samples out for their fresh goat cheese, flavored versions, and aged cheeses. They even make a seriously good Hubbardston Blue.
Clear Flour Bakery
One of the best things about shopping the Clear Flour Bakery stand is the opportunity to buy half loaves of their European style breads. They will cut some of the varieties and sell half. Or, you can find someone else in line who would like to split a loaf.
The sight of any sort of fresh garlic, from scapes to this early green garlic from. Kimball Fruit Farm makes me want to cook.
Ripe Red Raspberries
Kimball Fruit Farm always has some of the most delectable fruit and berries.
Brookline customers are fortunate to have some great specialty food vendors. Rachel Marshall is one of the founders of Nella Pasta. They make fresh pasta using ingredients from local farmers who use organic practices.
Smith Farmstead Cheese Tasting
You can taste the award winning cheese from Smith Farmstead at their Brookline Market stand. I love their cheddars. Since they have four different aged varieties, I sometimes have to do a bit of tasting to decide which to take home.
A Rainbow of Swiss Chard
This Swiss chard from Stillman's Farm was perfect for my favorite beans and greens!
Cindy the Fish Lady was telling her customer how to cook this wild salmon. If you visit the market on Thursdays or meet her at the Brookline, When Pigs Fly Bakery on Tuesdays, she'll add you to her email list. Then, you can reserve the fish you'd like.
