20110602-154804-eat-like-a-man-the-only-cookbook-a-man-will-ever-need.jpgIn the introduction to Eat Like a Man: The Only Cookbook a Man Will Ever Need David Granger, editor-in-chief of Esquire magazine writes, "One of the defining characteristics of manhood is the joy we take in tangible results." And really, is there anything more tangible than cooking and eating? But when it comes to cookbooks there are precious few written with men in mind, and those that are generally have something to do with grilling.

With a forward by Tom Colicchio and recipes and essays contributed by big names including Thomas Keller, Mario Batali, and David Wondrich (and yes, there are a few savvy lady cooks thrown in for good measure), Eat Like a Man is a new sort of man's cookbook. It's a book about cooking and eating, written for those who truly enjoy food, in a reassuring, manly tone that's miles away from the Joy of Cooking and Fanny Farmer. Recipes are challenging but ultimately doable, and there are plenty of how-tos that are sure to up your dude cred—is there anything more manly than knowing how to properly shuck and oyster or mix a perfect Manhattan?
