Cross-Border Shopping Guide: Canada
Don't get me wrong—moving from Toronto to San Diego was one of the best decisions I've ever made, but there are times when powerful cravings for food from my homeland take hold that no amount of sunshine can cure. Wearing sundresses in February is excellent, but there are days I would gladly put on a peacoat and trudge through the snow for some Timbits, a few packets of Swiss Chalet sauce, and a case of Fruit and Nut bars.
In hono(u)r of my homeland, I've put together a collection of some of the tastiest food items from the Great White North.
Most of items are grocery store products, chosen because they won't melt or spoil during your drive back home. None of them are healthy, but you can rationalize the calories by thinking of your shopping as a cultural experience, doubly so because all food packaging in Canada is bilingual.
Note: a few items are President's Choice brand, and only offered in specific grocery stores.
