A Sandwich a Day: Cevapcici at Pavich's Pizzafe in San Pedro, CA
In this great nation of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around the country. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

San Pedro is a port town in the southern part of Los Angeles. It's a uniquely diverse town with one of the largest Croatian communities outside of Croatia.
Denny Pavich opened a pizza parlor a couple years ago (it has since moved locations) serving a few Croatian specialties like cevapcici. The small, casing-less sausages are made with mild spices and oftentimes a combination of meats, though Pavich's are all beef. His cevapcici sandwich is a delight. It's served tucked in somun, a housemade bread, along with a delicious white garlic sauce side and a spicy bell pepper relish called ajvar. Pavich told us to tear off the pita-like bread, wrap it around a cevapcici and dip it in the sauce. (Good advice.)
