Slideshow: This Week at Serious Eats World Headquarters

Japanese Snack Time
Japanese Snack Time
Kenji took a trip to Japanese mega-supermarket Mitsuwa in New Jersey to stock up on our favorite Japanese snacks and candies. We haven't figured out what we're going to do with them yet (aside from eat them), but you'll be seeing them again soon.
Sad Dumpling
Sad Dumpling
This is one of the saddest Dumpling faces we've ever seen. Stare at it long enough and you'll be able to hear his plaintive puppy whimpers. Why is he so sad? Head over to the next slide.
Cinnamon Buns
Cinnamon Buns
Dumpling was sad because he wanted a cinnamon bun. Alas, they were just for the humans in the office. Robyn made this batch of Norwegian cinnamon buns to test out a recipe, soon to be blogged on Serious Eats.
Chichi, the Happiest Tendon Eater
Chichi, the Happiest Tendon Eater
You know you got the right person to write a column called The Nasty Bits when that person, upon fishing a lump of tendon out of a bowl of hand-pulled noodles, exclaims, "Look at this nugget!" with eyes aglow with happiness. Yup, that's our Chichi! Tendon nugget was provided by Food Sing 88.
Birthday Burrito, Destroyed
Birthday Burrito, Destroyed
Part of Dumpling's birthday celebration involved feeding him a birthday burrito—a burrito that he messily demolished in seconds. Being in burrito heaven, Dumpling probably didn't notice that the rest of the office was watching him fling bits of burrito innards (chicken and rice) on the floor.

Birthday Dumpling Group Shot
Come on, Dumpling, show some excitement!...oh well, we tried. He was probably pooped from the burrito devouring. From left to right: Leandra Palermo, Carrie Vasios, Kenji Lopez-Alt + Dumpling, Erin Adamo, Erin Zimmer, Ed Levine, Carey Jones, Christine Tsai, and Maggie Hoffman.
