Slideshow: This Week at Serious Eats World Headquarters

Alaina's Baby Shower + Barbecue Chowdown
Alaina's Baby Shower + Barbecue Chowdown
Both the Wilber's and Skylight pork shipped in from North Carolina were inhaled; the Wilber's disappeared slightly faster. We made sandwiches with Martin's potato rolls and poured on the vinegary sauce.

See our present for Alaina on the table? Good for one BOB Revolution stroller! The front wheel swivels for unmatched maneuverability. That baby will be getting an exceptionally smooth ride down the sidewalk!

Our web developer Christine made this most adorable gift for the eater-to-be. Complete with the SE logo! (Which some of you have confused for a chicken and a stomach.)
And for Dessert
And for Dessert
Carrot cake from Amy's Bread! We knew it was an Alaina favorite. And as you may recall it won our SENY carrot cake tasting (she has good taste).
Pretzels at International SE Day
Pretzels at International SE Day
You've seen all the photos from last Saturday's celebration. The NYC meet-up went through at least a dozen of these pretzels at Radegast in Brooklyn. It *was* a beer hall. What better snack to go with beer than pretzels? Alright, maybe wursts. (We had a bunch of those too.)
We Broke 10,000 Facebook Fans
We Broke 10,000 Facebook Fans
Hip hip hurray! This was a bit of a landmark for us. Next goal: 100,000! Help us get there by liking us on Facebook. (But does Mikey like us? That's the question.)

Oh hey, there's Jessica, our photo/video assistant. (You might have to squint a little.) This was during a photo shoot of apple brandy from the Oregon-based Clear Creek Distillery.
And Ed Likes Ice Cream

Similar tongue gestures? This was a stand-and-scoop gathering around ice cream shipped in from Sweet Rose Creamery in Santa Monica, California. Special thanks to Zach Brooks of Midtown Lunch for carefully packing it in dry ice!
Luxxe Coffee Ice Cream from Sweet Rose Creamery (Los Angeles, CA)
Luxxe Coffee Ice Cream from Sweet Rose Creamery (Los Angeles, CA)
I'm a big fan of what Zoe Nathan is doing at Huckleberry Bakery in Santa Monica (her maple bacon biscuit is pretty serious) so when I heard she was opening an ice cream shop last May, I knew we were in for a treat. Though I'm not a regular coffee drinker (crazy but true), I do enjoy coffee-flavored desserts (see also the Iced Cafe au Lait from Morning Call in Louisiana, in this slideshow).

Sweet Rose's Luxxe Coffee ice cream has deep, roasted flavors; you can really taste the dark grounds. With just a touch of sweetness, the emphasis is really on the coffee (they use beans from nearby Cafe Luxxe) and rich cream.

Milkshake-ifying
Milkshake-ifying
Given our mini fridge and freezer situation (we're in the process of getting a real kitchen), we had no choice but to down all of these before they melted into ice cream soup. Hurry, eat it all! Faster!
