Cook the Book: Anjum's New Indian
Since its premiere back in June, Cooking Channel has been brightening up the world of food television with its unique programming as well as imports from Canada and the UK.
Along with guiding viewers through cooking techniques and spices blends that are typical to Indian cooking, Anand health-conscious making sure to keep recipes light and good-for-you without sacrificing flavor. By using principles of Ayurveda, Anand creates lively recipes that are healthful, flavorful, and good for your well being.
This week we will be testing out recipes from Anjum's New Indian to see just how easy Indian food made at home can be. (Spoiler: Super easy once you've assembled all of your spices!) On the menu this week: Maharashtran Lamb Curry with a wonderful sauce of coconut and caramelized onions, Kashmiri Pilaff with pistachios and dried figs, and a Coconut Bebinca, almost like an Indian mille-feuille.
