Look Who's Talkin': Comments, Quips, and Tips We Have Known and Loved
Do You Take Your Knives on Vacation?
"If you're renting a vacation condo you have to accept that the knives and other cookware will be crap, otherwise people would steal them. The average person is much more concerned about the thread count of the sheets, it's only us who are worried about knives. These days it can be rather dodgy to carry a bunch of big knives in your luggage. I find I can do a lot of good cooking with my modest, properly packed Victorinox." —McNormal
What's Your Favorite Indian Dish?
"This is actually funny reading all the comments! Sounds like a crazy love affair...... I just love Indian food period the end. Do yourself a favor and get the book Mangoes and Curry Leaves. Outstanding..." —Thegoldenpineapple
Liverwurst: Love It or Hate It?
"I haven't eaten it in forever but, when i was little my grandma would mash it it with mayo and spread it on bread with swiss cheese. I was really good for one sandwich and then after that it would be too rich for another couple months or years." —jennywren
So I'm Considering Hunting Again
"I actually think it's more humane to eat an animal that was running around free and wild instead of one that was raised in a cage or on a factory farm. That said, I've never had the opportunity to go hunting, so I don't know what it's like to kill an animal. I do agree with you that if you don't have the will to kill your own food, you shouldn't eat meat. I say go hunting." —emgroff
[Blank] Commercial Has Me LOLing Every Time!
"I usually hate commercials and actually mute them on my TV when possible. But one that I absolutely adore is the most interesting man in the world by Dos Equis." —leebo
Top Chef Contestants: Least Favorite?
"I think Angelo probably has cooking chops, but he's such a weirdo. What was the deal with his wife's family not supporting his being cook, his having a shrine to great chefs as a kid, and the fact that he is recently divorced but has a fiancee in Russia (I have to wonder if he's ever actually met her). Just so many unanswered questions, none of which affect his apparent ability to cook delicious food.
"With Tiffany gone, I have to root for Ed, who seems like an awesome guy and a good cook." —popculturemaven
Pretzel M&M's: Anyone Tried Them?
"Not enough salt. Also I think the M&M candy coating crunch was awkward combined with the pretzel crunch. Sticking to either M&Ms or chocolate covered pretzels, not together." —cranberrycheese
Yelp?
"The beauty (and the challenge) of open forums is that anyone can post anything they like (to degree). Not everyone is a food critic, a wine critic, a destination critic. For me, I try to understand what I am getting (such as in yelp) as use it as one data point in my decision making." —derosa
